Amazing how many folk have used the word ‘gold’ in the previous comments, so I decided to do the logical thing and change the name of this series of road photographs!
Today’s pic of a Boreen Near Holy Cross in County Tipperary, and flooded by the River Suir, illustrates how even the negative aspects of nature can have a strange beauty.
A wonderful image, George! And by the way, your mentioning “the negative aspects of nature” makes me think that your good fortune here is some motorist’s misfortune!
I find it interesting how the toning almost romanticizes what is usually seen as a destructive force. It creates a kind of dissonance which I find quite compelling.
A agree with your comment when you talk about “strange beauty” for this landscape. Quiet nice choice of tone and always a great light in your pictures George…
For me I am drawn to the gorgeous golden light and its source in your frame, helped along by the fabulous use of leading lines. I love also that you chose to make the main focal point to the far left (are you left handed, or do you find yourself leading with your left foot when you dance the flamenco?) But most of all, what a unique and fascinating subject! It seems one would need an amphibious vehicle to cross this “road”. Speaking of amphibious things, it has been so warm here that the frogs have come-out from hibernation. Dadfetch it, what is goin’ on with our climate?!

It’s really a beautiful scenery. I love the tones – whatever you call them. An almost classic composition of a harmonious landscape.
